Express Entry
Express Entry is an immigration system used by the Canadian government to manage
applications for permanent residence from skilled workers. It is a points-based
system that assesses candidates based on various factors such as age, education,
work experience, language proficiency, and adaptability.
To participate in the Express Entry system, you need to meet the eligibility
requirements of one of the three federal economic immigration programs:
-
1.Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP):
This program is for
skilled
workers with foreign work experience who want to immigrate to Canada
permanently.
-
2. Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP):
This program is for
skilled
tradespeople who want to immigrate to Canada permanently.
-
3. Canadian Experience Class (CEC):
This program is for individuals
with at
least one year of skilled work experience in Canada who wish to become
permanent residentsm
Here's a general overview of the Express Entry process:
-
1. Determine your eligibility:
Check if you meet the eligibility
criteria
for at least one of the federal economic immigration programs mentioned
above.
-
2. Create an Express Entry profile:
If you are eligible, you need
to create
an online profile
in the Express Entry system. You will provide information about your age,
education, work experience, language proficiency, and other details.
-
3. Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score:
Based on the
information you
provide
in your profile, you will be assigned a CRS score. The CRS score is used to
rank candidates in the Express Entry pool.
-
4. Invitation to Apply (ITA):
Candidates with high CRS scores are
invited to
apply for permanent residence through
regular draws that take place typically every two weeks. If you receive an
ITA, you will have a limited time to submit a complete application.
-
5. Submitting the application:
Once you receive an ITA, you must
submit a
complete application for permanent residence,
including all the required supporting documents. You will also need to
undergo medical examinations and provide police certificates.
-
6. Application processing and decision:
The Canadian government
will process
your application and make a decision on
your eligibility for permanent residence. This process usually takes around
six months.
It's important to note that meeting the minimum eligibility requirements does not
guarantee an ITA, as the CRS scores of candidates can vary based on the number of
points they accumulate.
Higher CRS scores increase the likelihood of receiving an ITA.
